Six highlights from this morning:
KDHX 88.1 FM
- Puzzle Me-You-Kaki King (An airy, atmosphere guitar piece, suitable for a cloudy day or surveying the landscape from a train. The pared down version I watched on YouTube reminds me somewhat of Tommy Emmanuel's guitar playing.)
- When I Get Home-The Searchers (I don't think I'd heard this track before today, but it stands up to the band's hits, "Needles And Pins" and "Love Potion Number Nine.")
- Prelude To A Kiss-Teddy Wilson (It's a pleasure to hear such an elegant piano version of this Duke Ellington tune.)
WSIE 88.7 FM
- Sweet Honeybee-Cal Tjader (Vibraphone and horns fit for a spy thriller.)
- Turn The Music Up!-The Brand New Heavies (Joyous, warm, uptempo guitar, horns, and vocals; this strong cover of a 1979 tune by The Players Association could segue with "Just Don't Know" by The Urge.)
KCLC 89.1 FM
- Making Do-Lake Street Dive (The lyrics illustrate one of many reasons I'm relieved that Joe Biden is our new president. The effects of climate change, among other burdensome, handed-down legacies, need to be addressed.)
